Reporting a file that will not convert

This is the most useful kind of report, and the one most likely to result in a fix. What helps:

• The format and extension, and which browser you used.
• What you expected and what happened instead — wrong timings, missing cues, broken characters, a download that did not start.
• A few lines of the file, if you are willing. Enough to show the structure around the problem is usually plenty; the whole file is rarely needed.

Please do not send anything confidential. Nothing you paste into the tool itself is ever transmitted, but an email is an email, and it goes to a normal mailbox like any other.

Correcting a guide

Corrections are welcome and are treated as bugs. If a frame-rate figure, keyboard shortcut, menu path or claim about another player is wrong or has gone out of date, say which page and what it should say. The pages carry a last-updated date so you can see how stale a given answer is.

Privacy

Questions about data handling go to the same address. Theprivacy page answers most of them, including the complete list of what Cuelatch stores on your device, which is one value recording whether you chose light or dark.

What this address is not for

• Guest posts and link exchanges. These are not accepted, and no reply will be sent.
• Support for other software. Questions about VLC, Plex or MKVToolNix are better asked of their own projects, though thediagnostic may resolve it faster.
